PM+M partner with East Lancashire Hospice

As part of our ongoing Positive Impact initiative, PM+M are delighted to confirm that we are the new T-shirt sponsors for East Lancashire Hospice.

Tax manager, Julie Walsh and accounting + advisory assistant manager, Lisa Colbert are championing PM+M’s involvement with the hospice and recently met the team to find out more about the excellent support the hospice provide.

We sat down with Julie to find out more about the hospice and her experience with the charity.

This wonderful organisation is responsible for the care of people within Blackburn with Darwen, Ribble Valley and Hyndburn for end-of-life care, assistance with life limiting conditions, pain relief and holistic needs. WOW!

I’m sure that many of you will have had experience with the hospice. Unfortunately for many, it will be similar to me – a sad place where the staff are amazing but ultimately, you leave bereaved.

My experience and memories have now changed after visiting this wonderful place and seeing for myself what actually goes on there every day, and throughout the year.

Lisa and I were in awe at the array of complimentary therapies and services which are available at the hospice, and we were marvelling at the surroundings, which to be honest, in places, seem more like a hotel they are so relaxed.

The gardens alone are a place of calm and beauty – we didn’t realise how peaceful an area in the centre of Blackburn could be.

The hospice not only cares for the patients and service users but their families too, with help available long after the initial care needs.

However, this wonderful place is still not funded by the government and receives less than 25% of the money it needs to stay open each year from central funding. The hospice continues to rely on the generosity of the public to keep providing their much-needed services.

Recently, we have learnt this funding has been getting harder and harder to maintain. Money, as we know, is tight in the current cost of living crisis, and other equally deserving charities are also in need.

At PM + M, we are providing our support by offering our teams as volunteers to help with the upkeep of the property whilst getting involved in some of the more structured fundraising.

We can’t wait to continue our support of East Lancashire Hospice, and make a difference in anyway we can!
