Although only a small number of employers still use printed booklets to make payments to HMRC, from April 2024 they will no longer be available, and an alternative method will need to be used.
No replacement booklets will be issued from this date to make PAYE payments via a bank or building society or use them to send a cheque through the post. You will be able to use up any booklets you already have until the end of the tax year, 5 April 2024 but after this, they will no longer be accepted.
HMRC will be writing to inform employers of the changes and will be encouraging payments online as they believe this is the quickest and most secure way.
