According to officials, over £1.5bn worth of emergency grants for small businesses remains unclaimed – meaning that thousands of businesses could be missing out on vital financial support.
Earlier this year, it was announced that £12bn worth of funding would be provided by the Government to local authorities to distribute and allocate to eligible businesses. The move was designed to issue urgent support to small firms who may not have survived the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown otherwise.
It has now been confirmed that if the funding has not been claimed by the end of August, it will be returned to The Treasury.
Therefore, if you are a small business eligible for a grant who has not yet received any financial support, we urge you to get in touch with your local council as soon as possible to discuss your options.
The support packages that fall within this bracket, and are still available to claim until the end of August include:
– Small Business Grant Fund (eligibility criteria found here)
– Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund (eligibility criteria found here)
– Local Authority Discretionary Grants Fund (eligibility criteria found here)
