PM+M gains exclusive national ICFIB membership

East Lancashire based accountancy firm PM+M have become the only accountancy firm in the northwest to have been awarded corporate membership of the International Centre for Families in Business (ICFIB).

Corporate membership of ICFIB is offered by invitation only, to selected organisations that offer a strategic service to their family business clients and have a demonstrated commitment to the sector. There are a maximum of 4 corporate members per city, with only one member firm per city from each profession across Accountancy, Law, Independent Financial Advisors and Banking.

 

PM+M now hold exclusive membership for accountancy in the northwest and are delighted, believing it reflects their vast knowledge of and experience working with family businesses.  “This membership sets us aside from other family business advisors. It gives us direct access to ICFIB’s vast expertise and insight, ensuring that we are always up to date with issues faced in a family business and can call on ICFIB’s experience if necessary,” said Stephen Anderson, Managing Partner at PM+M.

 

ICFIB is committed to ensuring the most up-to-date information and resources are available to family businesses and their advisors, by working directly with both family businesses and with professional advisers and intermediaries such as PM+M.

 

In order to be awarded membership, 5 partners at PM+M followed a prescribed course of four one day programmes run by ICFIB. The 4 programmes cover an introduction to the issues faced in family business, governance, succession planning and process consulting within the family business arena. On completion of the course, they then had to produce a working case study to show their knowledge of family business strategy.

 

Jackie Fisher, family business specialist at PM+M said; “Problems in a family business are often deeply rooted in relationship issues between family members and are less about the commerciality of the business. This programme and subsequent membership has enhanced our own skills and experiences to allow us to offer an even better service to family business clients.”
