Bringing the beach to East Lancashire

In celebration of the wonderful weather we’ve been having recently we thought we’d do something a little bit different and declared today ‘Beachwear Friday’.

The team were encouraged to come to work in suitable beach going attire and invited to make a donation to Blackburn Youth Zone.

Hawaiian Shirts, beach towels and flip-flops were all out in force and with a prize for the best outfit everyone made an effort to bring a touch of the beach to East Lancashire.

And, over lunchtime many of the team headed outside to enjoy the sun and indulge in some lawn games. Giant Jenga and Croquet proved popular with Jenga, in particular, evoking plenty of competitive spirit.

All in all, it’s been a great day and hopefully something we can repeat again soon. Weather permitting, of course!

Burnley: A great place to do business!

In a report published recently from the UK’s top economic Think Tank, Centre for Cities, Burnley was ranked eighth in the UK for the high growth prospects of its SMEs and identified as an area where firms are driving the economic revival.

There is currently a great buzz around Burnley not only from Burnley’s promotion to the Premier League but also since being named ‘The Most Enterprising Area in Britain’. In recent years, the town has made a real commitment to enhancing its infrastructure so as to facilitate economic growth. Several new business parks have launched, the new University Technical College has opened its doors and faster rail links to Manchester are imminent.

In particular, we have seen considerable growth in the hi-tech, manufacturing and engineering sectors. At PM+M, we work with many clients who are suppliers in the aerospace industry who are very excited about the benefits of the proposed Aerospace Supply Chain Logistics Park. New developments such as these afford local firms the opportunity to expand enabling projected industry and, in turn, job growth for the town. We have a great deal of experience in the manufacturing and engineering sector and we look forward to combining outstanding technical expertise with deep sector knowledge to help our clients achieve their goals.

We are proud to count ourselves amongst these local firms contributing to the growth of the economy. We currently have nine partners and approximately seventy people working across two offices in Burnley and Blackburn and we are constantly on the lookout for new talent.  The last twelve months has seen the firm evolve and we recently took the decision to restructure our business services department into two newly-formed specialist teams, encompassing Corporate Services and Run My Business. Promotion for Antony Keen to Director of PM+M Wealth Management

Everyone here at PM+M would like to congratulate Antony Keen on his recent promotion to Director of PM+M Wealth Management.

Antony Keen1Antony joined PM+M upon leaving school and is one of the firm’s longest serving team members having spent 26 years with us. For the last 15 years Antony has been advising clients on most aspects of wealth management and this promotion reflects the regard in which he is held by both clients and the team here.

Antony has taken up his new position with immediate effect and will continue in his advisory role to private clients and businesses working closely with our tax, accounting and payroll teams.  He will continue to assist corporate clients to meet the new workplace pension requirements. In addition, he will be developing new initiatives to continue the development of our wealth management offering.

Antony said of his promotion; “I have worked at PM+M for many, many years so becoming a director in the Wealth Management team is a real milestone in my career. I am proud to be part of the firm’s history and this promotion really cements my future here. I will now be working alongside my colleagues to develop our wealth management offering, both in the North West and beyond“.

We felt Antony’s dedication and years of hard work deserved to be recognised and we’re keen for him to have a leadership role in our growing team. Antony builds a real rapport with his clients and, not only that, is a great character to have around the office. I’m confident that he will continue to excel and provide great service.

We are delighted to announce Antony Keen has been promoted to director in our Wealth Management division.

Antony has worked at PM+M for twenty six years – 15 of those have been spent in the Wealth Management team. His role will see him enhancing his management of porfolios of pensions and investments for his private clients; working closely with the tax team in advising them on tax issues. He will also be helping corporate clients to meet the new workplace pension regulations. He takes ip his new post with immediate effect.

I am proud to be part of the firm’s history and this promotion really cements my future here. I will now be working alongside my colleagues to develop our wealth management offering, both in the North West and beyond.”

NISA’s have landed!

From the 1 July 2014 all ISA’s will become NISA’s (New Individual Savings Accounts). This applies to all existing ISA’s and new accounts opened after 1 July 2014. The Government has changed the name to reflect the significantly increased limits and flexibility.

From 1 July the new limit is increased from £11,880 to £15,000 and investors are no longer restricted to being able to save only half the overall subscription allowance in a cash ISA. Going forward you can invest in cash, stocks and shares or any combination of the two. Under the NISA rules you will be able to transfer previous years ISA savings freely between stocks and shares and cash if you wish.

The junior limit increases from £3,840 to £4,000.

The increased limits and flexibility make NISA’s an even more compelling investment wrapper and when combined with pensions can be a powerful proposition for long term saving and retirement planning.
